What is therapy?

Welcome to The Springs Therapy Group. We are glad that you took the first step towards therapy! The fact that you are here is a sign that you are open to potential growth, so you are at least open to the idea of therapy. But what is therapy?

Therapy is a collaborative process between a well-trained clinician and a client. The therapist’s role is to provide empathetic, unconditional support to the client(s). The therapist will ask questions, provide feedback, actively listen, and use their clinical skills and experience to help you navigate through your presenting problem.

Your role as the client is to be open to the process of therapy through honesty and vulnerability. You’ll need to share about what issues have been present, and you will need to put in the effort to grow. Your effort, both in and outside of the therapy room, is significant to the success of therapy. If this feels difficult for you, that is okay. We can work through it as long as you are willing and able.

While making that initial call may be nerve-wracking, it could be life-changing. Let us know how we can help.
